You should make sure you are appropriately equipped for any walk. This will depend slightly on the time of year, and it’s worth checking the weather forecast before you come.

You don't need to buy expensive gear. In general you will need warm and waterproof clothing, food and water, sunscreen and sunglasses and/or woolly hat and gloves as appropriate. Better to bring too many layers than to be cold.

While a lot of our walks are on smooth paths, we often cross rougher terrain and there's often mud!

Footwear depends on the walk you're doing. For many walks a good pair of trainers is OK, but for walks that are in the countryside or in wilder areas you are best with a decent pair of walking boots. The most important thing is that you are comfortable.
