Weekend Away Kelso 7th - 10th September (Booking Open)

Kelso - a picturesque market town on the Scottish border, with the magnificent backdrop of Floors Castle, is hosting a two day food and drink festival on the weekend of the 8th and 9th September. As well as sampling the best of British cuisine, there are optional walks on Friday through to Sunday to work off the calories, and explore the stunning countryside of the Scotland/England border.


Itinery as follows:

  • Friday Arrival and meet up in evening. Walk around the market town of Kelso.
  • Saturday Meet outside Pemberly Bed and Breakfast to walk to Floors Castle. Take bus to explore village of Norham and Castle made famous by Turner.
  • Sunday Meet to go to castle and further explore food festival. Walk in afternoon Melrose and surrounding Eildon Hills.
  • Monday last day exploring Kelso at your leisure and return home.

Also optional meet up in evenings to eat together.

Practicalities
Travel options by plane or train. Bus is the cheapest option but takes 9hrs to get there. Planes fly from London to Edinburgh and then a no 62 bus lasting approx one hour. Trains run to Berwick-upon-Tweed or Tweedbank. Number 67 takes 50 minutes and cheaper @ £8 while a taxi costs an average of £55 unless sharing will reduce fare.
