The Bernese Oberland is a great place for walking. Wengen is a car-free village perched on a terrace in the Lauterbrunnen Valley, reached by mountain railway and with spectacular views to the high Alps. The Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains make a splendid backdrop to the area.

Walkers are spoilt for choice for excellent walking trails in the area with stunning scenery.

The walks would range in difficulty from easy/moderate to moderate/strenuous.

Switzerland whilst beautiful, is quite expensive. A ‘ball park’ figure of the cost for the above dates, for example, taking into account airfares, connecting travel between airport and Wengen, a comfortable three-star hotel for five nights, breakfast and a good evening meal would be approximately £900. In addition, there would be local travel expenses in respect of trains, cable cars and buses relating to the walks. The proposed date of of the trip is Tuesday 26th August to Sunday 1st September, 2019.
